Who Is Scott Austin?

So after locking the final cut of the Civalias video I recently directed and edited under my “Director Name”, Mac Allan I decided to pour myself a nice solid Macallan on the rocks to celebrate its completion.  I then found myself perusing the usual various legitimate news sources I frequent in an effort to keep up on my (limited) world affairs knowledge.  Somewhere between typing YAHOO.COM and taking a sip of perfectly aged scotch, I happened upon something I never quite prepared for… a front-page headline acknowledging that my ex-girlfriend Jennifer Love Hewitt, who I dated for a year and a half and even lived with in ‘04/’05, had gotten engaged.  
Pause…  I know exes getting engaged happens to everyone but having never dealt with this issue myself and finding out this way, I next found myself searching for words to describe how I felt about it. Depressed?  No.  Sad?  No.  Jealous?  Not at all, we parted ways for good reason(s) and though I can’t say I didn’t love the girl unremittingly, my life has unfolded exactly as it was meant to and I have no regrets.  I think the best way to describe how I feel is it’s a bit like seeing the house you grew up in or the first apartment you lived in when you moved out on your own years later, where the happy memories of an important part of your life are encapsulated in time but the premises are occupied by new tenants, forcing the realization that time -and change- really happens.  

I’ve made it a point not to discuss this relationship publicly out of respect for our privacy but I thought it at least remotely humorous that the first time I had to deal with something that we ALL will deal with at some point in our lives had to be in such an extremely PUBLIC way and felt compelled to share.  Guess that’s the price one pays for dating celebs.  The truth is I’m incredibly happy for Love (though she hated that I never called her by that name) and am glad she’s finally found what she’s been looking for all of these years.
